Silvia Di Domenico was born in 1981 and grew up with athletics. As a girl she was a promising athlete and the track was her natural place. During her university years life took her elsewhere: travel, work abroad and a path built far from home.
In 2010 everything stopped. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour when her daughter was only five months old. She returned to Italy, faced the illness and came through it. In the meantime two more children arrived.
One day, almost for fun, she went back to running. Results came quickly: she matched and in some cases bettered the times of her youth. Through social media she discovered she could compete in Paralympic athletics and, after classification, was found eligible for the T38 class.
Today she is the Italian record holder over 100m and 200m T38. Over 100m she ran 12.65, the Italian T38 record and the third best world performance of the season. Over 200m she ran 26.55, a new Italian T38 record. Outside the Paralympic circuit, she holds the Italian SF45 masters 100m record with 12.12 and set the Italian SF45 best performance over 60m indoor with 7.81.
Her goal is clear: to represent Italy at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, with the World Championships in Uzbekistan as a possible intermediate step.
